Chapter 469: Amon Vs Aisha
Chapter 469: Amon Vs Aisha
Adventurers shouted over one another. Tankards slammed against tables. The smell of roasted meat mixed with alcohol filled the air.
Amon sat stiffly on one side of the table. Across from him sat Aisha Darkfang.
The beastwoman looked completely at home.
Several beer mugs were already set across their table.
Aisha grabbed one without hesitation.
With a teasing grin, she asked, "Still scared?"
Amon’s eye twitched.
With an annoyed expression, he replied, "I am not scared."
Aisha smirked.
"Then drink."
Before he could reply, Aisha lifted her mug and tilted her head back.
Glug. Glug. Glug.
The golden liquid disappeared rapidly.
Amon watched in amazement.
Within seconds, she slammed the empty mug onto the table.
Bam!
"Woo!"
A satisfied grin spread across her face.
Amon stared at her.
There was no other explanation.
Aisha pointed at the untouched mug in front of him.
"Your turn."
Amon looked down.
The beer reflected the tavern lights. Tiny bubbles rose from the bottom.
This would be his first time drinking beer. For a moment, he hesitated. After all he didn’t know what he might do after getting drunk. Which is really a problem.
Still he couldn’t give in. He need to fight. Then, with determination, he grabbed the mug.
If Aisha could drink it so easily, surely he could handle many mugs.
He was more stronger now. Surely his tolerance might be high for alcohol.
He raised it to his lips. The smell hit him first. A strange scent,
It was bitter and soft.
Nothing like juice or tea.
Amon frowned. He didn’t like the taste.
’How does people even drink this? It taste so bad.’
Still he didn’t back off. He had eaten tasteless things before. This much was nothing.
Then he took a sip. The liquid flowed onto his tongue. His face immediately twisted. It wasn’t the pleasant sweetness he had unconsciously expected.
The flavor was strong and strange.
Yet underneath the bitterness, there was something oddly refreshing.
Coldness spread through his mouth and down his throat.
Amon swallowed. Then took another drink.
And another.
Gradually, the bitterness became easier to tolerate.
The cold sensation felt surprisingly good. The drink left a pleasant warmth inside his chest.
Without realizing it, he continued drinking.
Glug.
Glug.
Glug.
Aisha watched with an amused expression.
"Not bad."
Amon ignored her. He was focus on drinking. He needs to win and show this girl what kind of man he was.
His focus remained entirely on conquering the mug.
The beer continued flowing down his throat.
Soon the mug became lighter.
Then lighter still.
Clank.
Amon placed the empty mug onto the table.
For a second, he simply sat there.
The cool taste lingered in his mouth while warmth spread through his body.
Then a satisfied hiss escaped his lips.
"Haaaah..."
His shoulders relaxed.
The bitterness was still there.
But strangely enough...
Aisha burst out laughing.
"Look at you."
Amon wiped the corner of his mouth and looked at the empty mug.
A small smile appeared on his face.
His first beer.
And he had finished every drop.
The people around them cheered.
As the duo continued to drink.
---
Thud!
With a slightly flushed face, Aisha looked at Amon and said, "N-not bad!"
It was not because she was shy or angry.
She was flushed simply because she was drunk.
Thud!
Amon slammed another empty beer mug onto the table.
"Hhaa! That felt good!"
In front of them were many beer mugs. The battle was ongoing. But Amon was clearly on the losing side.
His tolerance was not as high as Aisha. Afterall it was his first time drinking.
Yet tried his best.
His eyes were heavy. His cheeks carried a pink shade, which clearly showed that he was more drunk.
"Fuck... this feels good! I feel so light~ No wonder you drink so much!~"
Aisha giggled.
"Hehe~ You finally understand what heaven feels like, don’t you? That’s why I like drinking. It feels like I am floating on cloud."
With droopy eyes, Amon nodded. "Yes, I do... thanks for this."
Even sitting straight was hard for him.
Aisha was in much better shape compared to him, but it wasn’t like she wasn’t drunk.
With a happy smile, she waved her hand.
"No need~"
Meanwhile, the group of old men beside them nodded with satisfaction.
"The battle was amazing... but I think the outcome is clearly visible. Just one last beer mug... and we will get our winner."
"Yes. This young man was amazing for his first time."
"They were fighting... but now they’ve become friendly. Alcohol truly brings people together."
With a nostalgic sigh, one old man said, "Wish my wife was like her. We could have drunk together... but now when I go back home like this... I will get a good beating from her. Damn you, lucky man for having such woman."
The old men, who still considered both of them a couple, continued commenting unnecessarily.
And of course, both Amon and Aisha didn’t care.
With a determined smirk, Amon raised another mug.
"One more..."
Aisha grinned.
"I am ready."
Both of them lifted their beer mugs and started drinking.
Gulp.
Gulp.
Gulp.
One of the old men shouted excitedly, "Young man! Don’t give up! You can do it!"
Another laughed loudly.
"Haha! The winner is decided! The wolf girl is the winner."
"Whoever wins, I enjoyed it. Seems like young people still enjoy drinking just like us."
Aisha completed her mug first and slammed it onto the table.
Then she wiped her lips by rubbing her forearm across them.
Amon paid by pulling out a gold coin from his storage ring.
He handed it to the waiter.
With a generous grin, he said, "Keep the remainder as a tip! I am generous tonight."
The waiter’s eyes brightened. He was getting huge tip for tonight.
"Thank you for your generosity."
Just then, the waiter arrived with the bill. He was tired of bringing them drinks.
Finally this two young people would go away from this place.
