Chapter 449 : Law Plane – Fallen Stars
Chapter 449 : Law Plane – Fallen Stars
As long passages of chants flowed from Janna’s lips, the Spiritual Candle standing beside 《Law and Plane Studies》 also bloomed into a platinum flame.“Crash—”
The candlelight flared brightly, smoke rising in wisps.
At the instant Janna completed the ritual directed at the 【Lord of Wisdom and Knowledge】, the once-closed pages of 《Law and Plane Studies》 began flipping rapidly.
In just a moment, Janna’s consciousness, along with the blue smoke surrounding the Spiritual Candle, sank into the 【Book World】—
“Welcome to the 【Book World】. I am your substitute instructor for 《Law and Plane Studies》, Hephis-Stellar.”
The instant Janna opened her eyes, what entered her sight was nothing more than an ordinary classroom. Yet standing at the podium was Hephis-Stellar, still bare-chested, his body blazing with fire-elemental particles, an 【Flame Demon】 who radiated scorching heat.
“So he really is also a lecturer for 《Law and Plane Studies》—”
According to what Hephis-Stellar had said last time, he should still be just a third-year student of the White Tower. What Janna had not expected was that, aside from his identity as a “senior,” he was also a lecturer of the White Tower.
“Due to the 【Plane War】, Professor Eunice has been unable to return to the 【Material Plane】 for a long time.
Therefore, during this period, I will be substituting for my mentor to teach you all this course, 《Law and Plane Studies》—”
While Hephis-Stellar gave his opening remarks, Janna turned to check the number of students enrolled in the class.
As she had expected, nearly everyone in her year had signed up for this course, which had been marked with the note “recommended elective.”
“This seating arrangement is rather interesting—”
As Janna glanced around, she noticed that the front rows were filled with Wizard Apprentices who had already obtained 【Law Fragments】, while the thirty-nine students who had passed the 【White Tower Trial】 sat in the rows behind.
“Today’s lesson will be divided into two parts. The first part is Chapter One, Section One: ‘What Are Laws?’
It focuses mainly on the mainstream view of 【Laws】 in the 【Material World】. The second part, the latter half of the chapter, is what all of you are most eager to learn.”
Hearing this, Janna also opened the 《Law and Plane Studies》 textbook in her hands.
“That is, the pathways for Wizard Apprentices to advance into full-fledged Wizards.”
As expected, when Hephis-Stellar said this, every Wizard Apprentice present revealed an eager expression.
And Janna, who had already prepared by previewing the chapter the night before, stared unblinkingly at Hephis-Stellar on the podium.
“【Laws】 are the objective summaries that Wizards make through their insight into the patterns of the 【Material World】, the crystallization of knowledge that permeates all things.
Divided by dimension, 【Laws】 fall into 【Primary Laws】 and 【Secondary Laws】. 【Secondary Laws】 are subsets derived under objective rules from 【Primary Laws】. Every 【Primary Law】 is composed of 【Secondary Laws】 that differ in attribute but share similar underlying principles.”
Much of what Hephis-Stellar was now explaining overlapped with what Janna had previously read in the White Coral Academy library, in 《Secrets of Laws》 and 《Insight into Laws》—conceptual material.
For many of the Wizard Apprentices present who already held 【Law Fragments】, this was hardly unfamiliar.
“In the Wizarding World, there are two main pathways to ascend into higher beings: the 【Wizard Pathway】 and the 【Warlock Pathway】. In ancient times, the 【Warlock Pathway】 was considered orthodox—indeed, the only means by which mortals could transform into the extraordinary. Until the era of the 【Great Catastrophe】, when the 【Will of the Wizard】 fell into slumber, the 【Wizard Pathway】 emerged—empowering souls to transcend through the nourishment of Laws.”
“And the reason I mention this is to explain why today’s Wizarding World so greatly reveres the 【Wizard Pathway】 of ‘mastering Laws.’”
Hearing Hephis-Stellar’s words, Janna, seated in the front row, involuntarily recalled the dream-visions she often experienced, of the former 【Lord of Nature and Life—Ivrecia】 offering sacrifices.
“The exercise of 【Law】 power is both a Wizard’s application of objective rules and an extension of the 【Will of the Wizard】’s primordial force. Just as the 【Law of the Ocean】 is an extension of the sea’s essence, the 【Law of the Sky】 is an extension of the sky’s essence.
To master a 【Law】 is to seize authority over the primal forces of the 【Material World】. This authority not only grants Wizards extraordinary power and evolution in life-tier, but also imposes irreplaceable responsibility—”
It had to be admitted: though Hephis-Stellar’s appearance might seem unkempt, his teaching skills were quite remarkable.
Not only could he explain the textbook content in plain, accessible terms, he could also expand beyond the text, helping the apprentices gain deeper understanding.
“As I’ve told some of you before, Wizards as a group will forever be guardians of the 【Wizarding World】, not lofty overlords. After joining the White Tower, each of you will shoulder the responsibility of protecting the 【Wizarding World】. And one of those responsibilities is repairing the 【Material World】’s 【Source Power】.”
Source Power?
Hearing this term, which she had also come across in her preview last night, Janna instinctively leaned forward.
“After the 【Great Catastrophe】, the 【Material World】 became riddled with scars. The 【Primary Laws】 born of the 【Will of the Wizard】 were tainted by Outer Gods, leading to the loss of the 【Law Consciousness Group】 and the depletion of the 【Source Power】.
Thus, only Wizards who have mastered 【Primary Laws】 can, with their authority, awaken the 【Law Consciousness Group】 of the 【Material World】 and replenish the dwindling 【Source Power】 of the 【Will of the Wizard】.”
“Of course, there is also one very important prerequisite.”
Saying this, Hephis-Stellar flipped 《Law and Plane Studies》 to the second half of Chapter One.
“Not all Wizards who master 【Laws】 can replenish 【Source Power】. After all, to ‘replenish,’ one must first have the ability to acquire 【Source Power】.
One of the conditions is that a Wizard who masters 【Laws】 must also possess their own 【Law Plane】.
And the precursor to the 【Law Plane】 is what you saw orbiting the 【Material World】 within the 【White Tower’s Star Ring】—the 【Fallen Stars】—”
