Selling oil across Libya

Chapter 10 Divergence

Chapter 10 Divergence

110 fully-leveled soldiers, plus three basic officers, plus one first-level officer, require a total of 1600 points.

On the first day the Nubidia Brigade arrived in Tripoli, Qin Rui's number of fully-equipped soldiers increased to three companies.

Based on the three-three system, three companies can be organized into a battalion.

Qin Rui did not do that.

When Qin Rui was exchanging for the third company, Musa reminded him to replace the M4 with an AK74 so that the troops could obtain supplies locally in Tripoli.

Qin Rui didn't see Wang Hai's message until the afternoon.

Qin Rui dialed the phone number Wang Hai had given him.

The call was answered almost immediately after just one ring.

"A Numidian translator?"

Yes, that's me.

"Great! I'm Zhan Wuzhijing. I used to work for the Libyan National Oil Company. I know a lot of clients and can help you sell your oil."

Wang Hai was overjoyed.

Qin Rui didn't talk much with Wang Hai, but gave Wang Hai Qin Liang's address and told him to go find Qin Liang.

When Qin Liang arrived in Bengaldan, he first bought a cell phone and had Miller send it back. Then he found a hotel and stayed there temporarily.

When Qin Liang entered the country, he spent $3 to buy six refugee certificates that allowed him to stay in Tunisia.

While a refugee certificate allows you to stay in a hotel, it prohibits you from engaging in commercial activities.

Qin Liang was worried about how to purchase supplies when Wang Hai's arrival was like sending charcoal in snowy weather.

Wang Hai never expected that Qin Rui's task for him was not to sell oil, but to purchase supplies.

To ensure his efforts weren't in vain, Qin Rui paid Wang Hai $1 every month.

When Wang Hai heard that it was $1 a month, he swallowed hard.

$1 is just the beginning.

As long as Wang Hai can successfully complete the task assigned by Qin Rui, countless more 1s await him in the future.

Wang Hai quickly proved that Qin Rui's $1 was well spent.

Some of the things Qin Rui wanted couldn't be bought in Bengaldan at all.

For example, communication systems.

Libya has a very good communications infrastructure. 3G networks were available as early as 2006, and mobile communication coverage reached 103%, with an average of 103 mobile phones per 100 people.

However, Libya's communications are under close surveillance by the Libyan government, which also cooperates with Western intelligence agencies, leaving the system riddled with infiltration. This made Qin Rui suspicious of Libya's communication system and he dared not use it with confidence.

For Qin Liang, this problem was completely beyond his capabilities and had no solution.

Wang Hai went online, found a network communication company, and made his demands.

"Dear customer, communication vehicles are outside the scope of civilian use and cannot be sold."

The customer service representative was clearly a burly man, but he insisted on squeezing her feet as hard as possible.

If it were Qin Liang, he would most likely have to give up at this point.

Wang Hai knew just how audacious domestic companies could be when expanding into overseas markets.

"Hey, look at my IP address, I'm not in China."

How much do you want?

Qin Rui didn't have a bank account, so he couldn't complete the payment.

Otherwise, Qin Rui would have handled these matters himself, without needing to go through Wang Hai.

Wang Hai's role is far more significant, but we'll leave that for later.

The Numidian Brigade's entry into Tripoli immediately drew strong attention from all sides.

Tripoli, as the capital of Libya, has strong symbolic significance. After occupying Tripoli, the Transitional Council immediately announced the relocation of the capital to Tripoli to exercise state powers. It also extended invitations to British Prime Minister David Cameron and French President Nicolas Sarkozy, hoping that they would travel to Tripoli in September to attend the ceremony for the establishment of the interim government.

We also took the opportunity to discuss economic cooperation.

The so-called economic cooperation involved transferring the exploitation rights of Libyan oil fields to British and French oil companies.

This is also why Total threatened Nubidia Brigade to withdraw from Zawiya.

Although Tripoli is in ruins, we should quickly restore order and make it possible to entertain guests later.

The Numidian Brigade's attack efficiency exceeded everyone's expectations.

The troops under the Transitional Council were mostly civilians who had taken advantage of the chaos, with only a small number being former government soldiers who had received formal training.

The fully-equipped soldiers worked together seamlessly, and two or three of them could control an entire block. In just one day and one night, a significant portion of Tripoli had been taken over by the Numidian Brigade.

Ironically, the Transitional Council still doesn't even know the designation of the Numidian Brigade.

"I don't care where they came from, I demand that you eliminate them all immediately, as quickly as possible."

Inside the mansion of Colonel Muhammad's eldest son, Jalil spoke sternly, demanding that the army led by the committee take immediate action.

Mohammed previously held important positions at the Libyan Post and Telecommunications Corporation and the Libyan Olympic Committee, and like the colonel, he was known for his simple lifestyle.

The media claimed that the colonel opposed luxury and lived a simple life.

He said he preferred living in a tent to a luxury mansion, and his wife and children lived in a military camp in Tripoli.

It's true that I like living in tents, but that doesn't mean I don't like mansions.

It is true that the colonel's wife and children lived together, but the Azizia military camp was actually an amusement park.

This so-called military camp not only has a diving center and a golf course, but also swimming pools, tennis courts, football fields, restaurants, hospitals, gyms, and helipads.

The colonel's sons not only lived a life of luxury, but also had a wide range of interests.

The colonel's third son, Saadi, played for Perugia in Serie A and made an appearance in Perugia's match against Juventus.

Although Saadi only played for 15 minutes, he was very generous after the game, gifting each of his teammates a Mercedes-Benz.

"Our main force is advancing towards Sirte and cannot return to deal with these people."

Khalifa Beqasim Haftar, who was once one of the colonel's closest comrades, harbored a hatred for the colonel no less than that for Sarkozy.

In 1987, Haftar, who was serving as the Chief of Staff of the Libyan Army, was captured along with hundreds of Libyan soldiers during a battle with Chad.

The colonel refused to acknowledge the capture of Libyan soldiers and even publicly stated that he "did not know of a person named Haftar," which led to a complete break between Haftar and the colonel.

Since the 90s, Haftar has been in exile in the United States for nearly 20 years. During this time, there have been reports that the opposition led by Haftar received support from the CIA.

"In another two weeks, the British Prime Minister and the French President will visit Tripoli. This is crucial for us to gain international recognition. Based on this premise, we can suspend the offensive against Sirte."

Jalil was so eager to gain international recognition that he was willing to let the tiger return to the mountain.

"You've got the point wrong. The key to gaining international recognition is whether or not we can kill that person."

Haftar insisted that he had waited twenty years for this moment, and no one could stop him from taking revenge on the colonel.
