Chapter 4 Slaying the Void
Chapter 4 Slaying the Void
To avoid a repeat of the previous accident, Yunhua endured the pain, picked up the Flame Sword, and plunged it directly into the giant-eyed rat's brain through its eye. Then, he twisted the hilt, turning its brain into a chaotic mess.
After doing all this and confirming that the giant-eyed rat was truly dead, Yunhua finally felt relieved.
Yunhua looked at her left arm and didn't dare use the medicine in the house. After all, the broken door at the entrance showed that demons must have been here before, and she didn't know if the medicine would be contaminated.
But it doesn't matter, Yunhua has other methods.
Yunhua unleashed Poison Essence - Poison Fang once more, but this time, before the Poison Fang could fully take shape, Yunhua deliberately loosened his control over Xingzi.
The out-of-control fangs turned into a cloud of poisonous mist, which Yunhua then inhaled.
Yunhua's face turned green instantly after inhaling the poisonous mist. However, immediately afterward, a dark green star trail appeared on Yunhua's body as he used a low-level, second-tier poison magic—breathing technique.
Level 2 Poison Extract - Breathing: "Breathing" allows you to expel poisonous mist for attacks; "Breathing" allows you to absorb toxins to heal injuries or enhance your cultivation.
While its power is difficult to assess, poison magic is arguably the most comprehensive among basic magic types.
As Yunhua practiced breathing exercises, her complexion returned to normal, though she still retained some of the paleness from excessive blood loss. The bleeding from her injured arm stopped, and a scab formed.
Now Yunhua just wants to lie down and relax. Although the battle just now didn't last long, it had taken a lot of energy out of her. She hopes nothing else goes wrong...
Snapped!Snapped!Snapped!
A burst of applause suddenly erupted in the previously quiet room.
[Could I really be that unlucky?!]
Yunhua silently wept, stiffly turning her head toward the source of the sound.
A man with a full beard, dressed in a military magistrate's uniform, emerged from the direction of the basement.
"Instructor Zhan Kong?" Yun Hua exclaimed in surprise as she looked at the man.
"I originally thought that having Mo Fan among this year's students was already a blessing, but I never expected to miss such a promising talent as you. This is truly amazing."
"Although I really want to invite you to join the military, there are very few people in the military who practice poison techniques. I estimate that I won't be able to find a good teacher to instruct you, so after thinking about it, I'll pass."
Yun Hua breathed a sigh of relief, feeling at ease. Although he didn't know why Zhan Kong was here, and that he and the giant-eyed blood rat had appeared from the same place.
However, Yunhua was not worried, because in her memory Zhan Kong was a good person. In the ancient capital, he voluntarily became the Ancient King in order to solve the calamity of the undead. Afterwards, he kept his undead under his command from harassing humans. Finally, under the attack of the Holy City, he surrendered and chose to die.
How could such a person harm you for no reason?
"Long time no see, Instructor! What are you doing here?"
"I came here after this giant-eyed blood rat, but I didn't expect to see you showing off your prowess as soon as I got here. You actually killed a servant-level demon all by yourself."
"It's mainly thanks to this magical artifact. Without this sword, you would probably be seeing my corpse."
"Magic tools are indeed important, but your role should not be underestimated. I have seen many mages who, despite their high magical skill, would tremble with fear at the sight of demons and monsters, unable to unleash their true power. On the battlefield, besides strength, courage and strategy are also essential, and you possess these qualities."
Yunhua simply nodded slightly at Zhan Kong's praise, then asked...
"Instructor, this giant-eyed, bloodthirsty rat is just a servant-level demon. Do you really need to deal with it yourself?"
Yunhua felt that a high-level mage like Zhan Kong should be facing a commander-level demon like Yi Canglang, or at the very least a general-level demon.
But a servant-level demon seems a bit unworthy, doesn't it?
"A mere servant-level demon is certainly not worth my personal trip, but the place where it appeared is rather unusual."
"Where will it appear?" Yunhua asked curiously, but then, as if remembering something, she added, "If it's inconvenient, then forget it. I'm not that curious."
Zhan Kong waved his hand, "Actually, there's nothing I can't say. Anyway, the Earthly Sacred Spring is gone now."
"Related to the Holy Spring?" This phrase made Yunhua think of something.
"Yes, the Holy Spring is actually located not far from here, right below the Yinmao Building."
"Downstairs at the Yinmao Building?" Yunhua feigned surprise.
"Yes, it's on the fifteenth basement floor of the building, a secret room was specially built there. But it's not of much use now, since the most important Holy Spring has already been drunk by that kid Mo Fan, so it has no reason to exist anymore."
However, the construction of the secret chamber used various precious materials and included a magical barrier, all of which are reusable. Therefore, Bo City plans to recycle these resources and sell them to recoup some of their losses.
"But what does this have to do with the military? The military and Bo City are two separate entities, meaning these resources belong solely to Bo City, and the military shouldn't have the right to take a share. Could it be...?"
"That's right, just as you thought! Bo City sold all those resources to our military. Right now, there are many military mages in the Yinmao Building handing over resources. As their leader, of course I had to come along, and that's when I discovered this giant-eyed blood rat."
After listening, Yunhua understood the whole story. "I know. You encountered this giant-eyed rat in the secret room of the Sacred Spring, and it ended up here with me, and you, Instructor, came along too."
Zhan Kong nodded, but then shook his head. "It's mostly as you said, but there's one thing: we discovered that this giant-eyed blood rat isn't in the secret chamber of the Sacred Spring, but in another secret chamber next to it."
"There's another secret room?" Yunhua was speechless. "There are so many secret rooms under the Yinmao Building! This place shouldn't be called Bo City, it should be called the Underground City!"
"This secret room is different; even the city lord and the headmaster were unaware of its existence. If it hadn't been for the accidental break in the wall while scraping off the plaster, this secret room would probably still be hidden."
"You're even scraping the plaster off the walls? Has the military gotten so poor?"
"That's not the point!" Zhan Kong blushed slightly.
"In short, when we entered the secret room, it was empty except for this giant-eyed, fishy rat, which looked like it had been there for some time."
Zhan Kong walked over to the giant-eyed rat and forcefully squeezed its belly with his hand.
Yunhua watched Zhan Kong's movements. "Do you suspect that there might have been something hidden in that new secret room, but it was eaten by this giant-eyed blood rat?"
"Whether it is or not, the body is here anyway, why don't we take a look?"
