Chapter 2 Underground Demon Rats
Chapter 2 Underground Demon Rats
The night passed quietly, and before we knew it, dawn had arrived. The clouds were parted by the rising sun, and rays of clean sunlight fell upon Bocheng.
Yunhua, leaning against the corner of the wall, was awakened by the cheers of the people. She saw a large flock of snow-white eagles appearing in the direction of the sunlight, and each eagle had a person riding on its back.
"The Sky Eagle Mage Corps!" Yunhua softly read out the group's identity.
"Reinforcements!!"
"Reinforcements have finally arrived!!"
The Skyhawk Mage Corps is one of the military's iconic units, specifically designed to support disaster-stricken areas. Each Skyhawk is piloted by at least a mid-level mage.
However, judging from the manner in which this batch of Skyhawks arrived, the higher-ups must be quite indignant. Otherwise, how could they possibly mobilize such a super-elite Skyhawk mage force?
After arriving in Bo City, the Sky Eagle Mage Corps began hunting down the general-level demons roaming the city.
Once the warrior-level demons are dealt with, the remaining servant-level demons will be unable to withstand the collective magical bombardment from the mages of Bo City.
This completely reversed the balance of power in Bocheng.
The night before, most mages had to hide in the safety barrier to defend against the demons. Now, all the mages have gathered into teams and begun hunting down the demons of the entire city of Bo, using the safety barrier as a focal point!
As the entrances to the demons were destroyed one by one, the number of demons in Bo City decreased with each kill, and the entire area entered a sweeping phase.
This sweep lasted for a whole week, and even the sewers were thoroughly cleaned several times. Perhaps a few fish escaped, but they certainly wouldn't dare to appear on the streets again.
However, Bo City was completely unrecognizable, with destroyed buildings everywhere and the surrounding area in a mess. Occasionally, playful children would discover the remains of corpses, which would terrify them to death...
After the disaster, Bo City held a small funeral for the deceased.
After all, the disaster caused heavy losses to Bocheng, and all the remaining money was used for disaster relief, leaving no extra funds.
After the funeral, Yunhua headed home alone, passing by the Yinmao Building on the way.
The Silver Trade Building is a landmark building in Bocheng. This Silver Trade Building presents a straight and towering pentagon shape, more like a high pentagonal pagoda standing in the very center of Bocheng than a magnificent building.
The Yinmao Building is 200 meters tall, and its entire shell is made of tempered glass. Under the blazing sun, it gleams like a sword being drawn from its sheath. At night, the entire building is even more dazzling with lights, and its neon lights can be seen from a distance in the city.
Now, only ruins remain to record its former glory.
Yunhua remembered that the precious land of Bocheng, Shengquan, was actually located below this Yinmao Building, on the fifteenth basement floor!
Unfortunately, Yunhua is no longer here, because even now, a group of military mages are coming and going here.
After all, besides the Sacred Spring, there might be other secrets of Bo City hidden here.
After walking for another twenty minutes, Yunhua returned to his home—the Yun Family Martial Arts School.
That's right! Yunhua's family practices martial arts and makes a living by teaching others martial arts.
Although this is a magical world, most people are ordinary people who have not awakened magic or cannot even cast basic level one magic. Therefore, Yunhua's family can be considered middle class.
Looking at the plaque above the door, Yunhua felt a pang of emotion, wondering if this martial arts school would be able to continue its legacy in the future.
Yunhua walked through the gate that had been destroyed by the demon beasts and entered the house, starting to check the things that had been preserved in each room.
When Yunhua arrived at the basement door to check, she heard a strange vibration sound from inside, like the sound of digging a tunnel.
He immediately stopped and gently pressed his ear against the door.
Suddenly the strange noise stopped, and a suffocating silence spread.
Yunhua sensed something was wrong and immediately jumped to the side with all her might.
Then a crimson beam shot out, blasting the basement door open. If Yunhua had been still in the same spot, he would probably be skewered into meat by now.
Upon seeing this, Yunhua didn't have time to check the situation inside the basement. She pressed herself against the wall and rushed out quickly.
Although I don't know what kind of demons are inside, fighting in such a narrow space would definitely be at a disadvantage.
Moreover, there are other monks in the nearby Yinmao Building, so there shouldn't be any problem if there are more people.
However, things did not go as Yunhua expected. When he was about two meters away from the gate, he heard a whooshing sound behind him.
Yunhua quickly rolled over to dodge another attack from the demon behind her.
But this also allowed demons to stand in his way.
Then Yunhua saw the true face of this demon.
A deep blue eye, with a pupil the size of a basketball, and the fleshy growths covering it that made one's skin crawl when they turned.
It has a neck as thick as a tree that a person can wrap their arms around, and its head and neck are completely indistinguishable. The only things on its head are an eye the size of a basketball and a gaping, blood-red mouth!
It is estimated to be nearly three meters long and as tall as an adult's chest. There is a noticeable scar on its back, as if it had been burned by fire.
"Giant-eyed blood rat."
Yunhua had not only heard of such demons in her demon class, but had also seen them with her own eyes during the disaster a few days ago.
This is a demon that lives in the soil for a long time, a master at digging burrows, and prefers to live in places that cannot be found in the city sewers. Its neck can stretch out, and its eyes can release penetrating, blood-red dark beams.
Like rats, these creatures reproduce extremely quickly and have a strong ability to survive. You can find a few of them in the underground passages and garbage dumps of a city. They generally only eat human scraps and will only eat people when they are starving. They are cowardly yet ubiquitous monsters!
Even at its weakest, it's still a servant-level demon. Normally, a demon with a strong physique and demonic arts can fight as well as seven or eight mages. This applies to servant-level demons as well as monarch-level demons; they are significantly stronger than other demons of the same rank.
Only a very few strong humans can stand against demons of the corresponding rank on their own; these are basically the chosen ones of heaven with perfect cultivation, magical tools, innate talents, and spirit seeds.
Buzz!
As Yunhua watched it, its basketball-shaped pupils were contracting violently, as if gathering something, quickly turning scarlet red. The energy had reached a critical point, and suddenly a crimson ray of light shot out from the monster's pupils.
Rumble!
Having practiced martial arts for many years, Yunhua had long since developed muscle reflexes. With a slight shift of his body, the scarlet beam of light grazed past him and struck the left wall, creating a charred hole.
Looking at the giant-eyed, fishy rat in front of him, Yunhua realized that running away was useless.
So Yunhua took out the Flame Sword from his spiritual sea and confronted it.
"Dad, whether your son will come down to see you depends on this magic tool you gave me."
