Chapter 32 Distribution, Commemoration, Friends
Chapter 32 Distribution, Commemoration, Friends
Perhaps the priest was a fraud.
With this thought in mind, House walked into the courtyard and nodded to the beautiful woman before him.
"Then I'll take my leave."
House originally planned to hand over the mission reward to Sylvia the moment he met her, without visiting her home.
But since he hadn't met Sylvia yet, and her mother was being overly enthusiastic, House had no choice but to comply.
Passing through the courtyard filled with the fragrance of flowers and plants, and entering the hall, a rather strong herbal aroma wafts towards you.
Looking around, behind the clean, off-white counter, bottles of medicine of various sizes were neatly arranged on the wall display case.
On the side table, there was a small pile of unprocessed, unidentified herbs.
"Is Sylvia available right now?"
Not seeing Sylvia in the lobby, House turned to look at the green-haired woman beside him who always had a gentle smile.
"Lorraine is in her room, grieving alone. I heard that two of her friends have left town."
Mentioning Sylvia, a faint sadness settled in the green-haired woman's emerald eyes.
Because of racial issues, her daughter Sylvia has never had any close friends since childhood.
She had finally made two friends her age who didn't mind her half-elf bloodline, but after yesterday's adventure, she heard that the two had left the town.
"You must be Sylvia's new companion from our adventures?"
The green-haired woman looked at House with a gentle, appraising gaze.
"Yes, that's right...Ms. Sylvia?"
"Just call me Catherine."
"Okay, Ms. Catherine, I am indeed a new teammate who has joined Sylvia on the adventure. House, you can just call me House."
House introduced himself once again.
After that, he asked if he could meet Sylvia, as he had something he wanted to give her personally.
Regarding the reward for this mission, House believed it should be handed over to Sylvia personally.
After all, this was Sylvia's first adventure, and this first experience and gains would have a different meaning for her.
"She's on the second floor, I'll take you there."
Ms. Catherine led House to the second floor.
But the moment he stepped onto the stairs, House subconsciously lowered his head slightly, subtly shifting his gaze away from what was ahead.
Today, Ms. Catherine is wearing a cream-colored, soft gauze dress. The exquisite waistband accentuates her graceful figure, and as she ascends the steps, the hem of the dress gathers and tightens slightly, revealing a captivating view if one is not careful.
Whether he walked slowly or quickly down the long, circular wooden staircase, House, accompanied by the scent of grass and trees, finally arrived at Sylvia's room at the end of the corridor, led by Ms. Catherine.
To be honest, Sylvia's house is quite large and beautifully decorated, so she's probably someone who's not short of money.
Indeed, because of Pierce's longsword and scale armor, which gleamed with the light of gold in the sunlight, and Leila's delicate and frail demeanor.
The two women's presence was so striking that House subconsciously overlooked Sylvia, who usually wore a hood and dressed simply and modestly.
He had even forgotten that when she introduced herself, Sylvia, like Leila, was a wealthy young woman whose total equipment amounted to more than ten gold coins.
Realizing his poverty once again, House quickly banished the jumbled thoughts from his mind.
Don't think about it too much, the more you think about it, the more upset you'll feel.
"House, this is her room. I'll be leaving now."
Catherine turned and went downstairs; she still had to manage the apothecary business.
House watched Mrs. Catherine leave before turning his gaze away.
He was about to knock on Sylvia's door.
But before House could raise his hand, the door decorated with tender green buds opened by itself, and Sylvia, dressed in ordinary home clothes and looking unremarkable compared to her mother, appeared before him.
"I've come to deliver your reward for the mission."
House quickly and succinctly took out the 11 silver and 23 copper coins he had previously obtained from the counter from his pocket, and divided them into two portions in front of Sylvia.
"A total of 11 silver and 23 bronze. Pierce and Leila are not participating in the distribution, so we each get 5 silver and 61 bronze... Hey!"
Just as House was counting the coins he had already calculated in his mind, he was suddenly pulled into the room by Sylvia.
"Don't talk while standing in the doorway."
Sylvia led House to the reception table and placed a cup of tea, already infused with nectar, in front of him.
Sylvia had sensed House's arrival the moment he stepped inside.
As a child of an elf who can perceive the world through plants, Sylvia still possesses powerful sensory abilities even though she only has a portion of elf blood in her body.
Most importantly, she didn't close the window, and House didn't lower his voice when greeting his mother.
"Thanks."
After splitting the coins in half, House tasted a sip of the nectar water that Sylvia had prepared for him.
The taste is pretty good.
As House savored the nectar, Sylvia leaned slightly forward, her gaze falling on the copper coin that House had set aside for her.
"How do you plan to distribute the extra copper coin?"
House asked the question.
"I......"
Having never experienced the distribution of spoils before, Sylvia was slightly confused and instinctively wanted to give them to House.
After all, if it weren't for House, everyone would have died there.
House is the one who has contributed the most to the team.
After thinking for a moment, she looked up at House, about to speak, but noticed that House was looking elsewhere.
Following House's gaze, they found it was just an ordinary wall.
Syl, unaware of her own exposure amidst the beautiful scenery, was still puzzled.
It wasn't until House subtly adjusted her collar that she suddenly snapped out of her daze, her cheeks flushing bright red as she hurriedly raised her hand to clutch her collar.
To be honest, it's nothing special, you can't see anything at all.
House sipped his honey tea and silently made his assessment in his mind.
"Well, I personally think you should keep this copper coin as a souvenir, to commemorate your first adventure's success."
House expressed his opinion about the extra copper coin to Sylvia.
"Okay, all right...that's settled, um."
Slightly embarrassed, Sylvia stammered in agreement.
After distributing the rewards and finishing his sweet drink, House bid farewell to Sylvia and left.
There's no need to stay any longer.
He still has a lot to do.
......
With one hand leaning against the windowsill and the other supporting her face, Sylvia sat sideways by the window, quietly watching House's departing figure until he disappeared around the corner of the alley.
"Oh my, I've made a new friend!"
The mother's voice came from behind.
Turning around, Ms. Catherine crossed one arm across her chest and rested the other on her arm, while in the same posture, she lightly touched her cheek with one hand and stared at Sylvia with a smile.
