Chapter 2050 - 2039: The Impulsive Barbaric Dragon
Chapter 2050 - 2039: The Impulsive Barbaric Dragon
"It's impossible that these corpses were all eaten by Demon Beasts."Ning Fan shook his head and continued to walk forward.
The entire palace was square, forming a perfect cube.
At the center of the square stood a towering statue of a god.
"God King of Light!"
Vivian gritted her teeth and said, then rushed toward the statue under Ning Fan's astonished gaze.
With a loud "bang", the seven or eight-meter-high statue collapsed with a crash.
Seeing Vivian's blood flowing profusely, revealing the deeply white bones of her fist, Ning Fan muttered, "Where did such a deep vendetta come from?"
"Watch out."
Seeing a white orb of light suddenly appear in the place where the statue originally stood,
Ning Fan couldn't say more. With the tip of his foot touching the ground, he dashed towards Vivian, leaving a series of afterimages, and pushed her aside.
At the same time, the white orb of light transformed into a pillar as thick as a fist and shot out.
The direction of the pillar's attack was precisely the place where Vivian had been standing earlier.
If Ning Fan had been even a bit slower, Vivian would likely have been struck by the pillar.
"You reckless brute, do you even realize you almost died just now?"
Staring at the hole in the wall, Ning Fan felt an inexplicable chill in his heart.
The entire palace was constructed with Shining Stone, renowned for its sturdiness.
Even with Vivian's monstrous strength, she could only shatter the statue while injured, which shows the hardness of the Shining Stone.
Yet before this pillar of light, the Shining Stone seemed like it's made of paper; not only did it easily pierce through the stone pillar, it even penetrated the nearly two-meter-thick wall.
Ning Fan believed that even if the wall had been twice as thick, the result would have been the same.
"I'm alright, aren't I?"
The proud girl remained unconcerned, though the flicker in her eyes betrayed her.
"I never expected the God King of Light would leave a Divine Seed here."
Seeing Ning Fan's disapproving gaze fixed on her, Vivian chuckled awkwardly, "I'm telling you, don't just smash statues in the future. As faith collectors, statues themselves are single-use, attack-type Divine Artifacts."
"You have the nerve to laugh. Even if you hadn't told me, I wouldn't have smashed it anyway."
Ning Fan had no faith in any god; if he had any faith, it was only in himself.
But he wouldn't forget the saying "three feet above the head, there are gods," unless the other party was an enemy.
One demigod, one supreme Divine King. The gap between the two is as vast as between the heavens and the earth.
Ning Fan really couldn't imagine how Vivian could have such a deep vendetta with the other party.
"If it weren't for the Ancient Divine Lineage, how could I have become like this?"
Vivian spoke righteously, "So what if I smash one of his statues?"
"I knew it."
Just as Ning Fan had thought earlier, she was either doing nothing and looking for trouble or taking out her anger on others.
When Vivian was attacked in the Star Sea, she didn't even see who made the move.
She only knew that the other party was from the Ancient Divine Lineage, yet she pinned the blame on the God King of Light.
Just then, Vivian said softly, "If you don't like it, I won't smash them anymore."
Ning Fan almost thought he misheard; this Evil Dragon actually knew how to back down, which was indeed a novelty.
"The grudge between you and the God King of Light, I don't know, nor do I want to know, and even less want to interfere."
Ning Fan said with a headache, "But can you calm down a bit? You need to learn to think twice before acting, look at your hand..."
"What's wrong with my hand?"
Looking at her smooth, jade-like delicate hand, Ning Fan's eyelids twitched. The wound that had shown white bone earlier was now healed, not even a scar remaining.
Before he could finish speaking, he ended up eating his words.
Ning Fan resignedly said, "You win, you're my nemesis."
"No."
Vivian seriously said, "You're actually my nemesis."
"Whether we're nemeses or not, we can talk about it later. What I just said, you should keep in mind."
Ning Fan gently advised, "This isn't the first time you've ruined things through recklessness."
"Were there others before?"
Noticing Vivian's contemplative expression, Ning Fan's long-suppressed anger started to flare up.
"Don't forget. If it weren't for you returning kindness with enmity..."
After venting like spilling beans out of a bamboo tube, Ning Fan's mood calmed a lot.
Seeing Vivian bowing her head, saying nothing, and assuming a stance of guilt, Ning Fan regretted speaking so harshly.
"After all, she's still a child; what more could I demand of her?"
With this thought, Ning Fan gently said, "Vivian, there's no need to take it to heart; the matter has passed, as long as you remember this lesson in the future."
"I haven't taken it to heart."
Vivian looked up earnestly and said, "I've already realized that the reason I became like this is entirely due to those Ancient Divine Spirits, not you."
With twitching lips, Ning Fan nodded and said, "I'm glad you figured that out, really glad. Let's move on."
It seemed as Vivian had said, the trap left by the God King of Light was just a one-time consumable.
With the disappearance of the light pillar, the white orb of light previously present also vanished.
"The Divine Seed contains a trace of the Divine Spirit's Divine Thoughts. Divine Spirits can hear the prayers of believers, only by relying on the Divine Seed to transmit across boundaries. Any sect must have a Divine Seed bestowed by a Divine Spirit, to truly be recognized by the Divine Spirit."
Listening to Vivian's 'science' lecture, Ning Fan nervously said, "Doesn't that mean the God King of Light already knows about us?"
"No way. If it were in Middle Earth, there might be a slight chance. But in the Origin World..."
Vivian shook her head, uttering two words, "No way."
Ning Fan speculated, "Is it the suppression of the Origin World's will again?"
"That's just one reason. The most important thing is, Divine Spirits simply wouldn't care about this world. The biggest function of the Divine Seed is merely to collect Power of Faith, as for the believers' prayers..."
At this point, Vivian emitted a cold laugh, "They're automatically ignored; no Divine Spirit cares about human wishes."
"That's true. If they listened to every wish twenty-four seven, Divine Spirits would probably be driven crazy."
During the Mount Tai incident, when Ning Fan achieved Unity of Heaven and Man, he accidentally discovered the existence of Power of Wishes; at the time, he found it somewhat novel.
Looking back now, though, it was rather frightening.
If someone droned on non-stop in your ear every day, you would go mad.
Vivian continued, "The Divine Seed left behind by the God King of Light is merely to facilitate the transmission of Divine Power for him. Based on the Believers' Power of Prayers alone, it's far from enough to break a boundary."
"Must have a plot!"
Other than these four words, Ning Fan didn't know anything else.
Passing through the statue to the back of the palace, the wall behind had three portals.
Walking towards the far-right portal, through a long corridor, Ning Fan's vision suddenly expanded when he reached the end.
"The high ranks of the Church of Light really know how to enjoy it!"
If this weren't a Secret Realm, Ning Fan might have thought he had arrived at a mountaintop villa.
