Chapter 942: Almost Let It Go
Chapter 942: Almost Let It Go
After returning to her aunt's house, Jiang Yufei went straight into her room and eagerly connected her phone and laptop with a data cable.
My phone's photo album contains many photos I took today at the Huang family's old villa, but I didn't take many photos indoors; I mainly took photos of the private garden.
Artificial hills, pavilions, fish ponds, a large lawn trimmed like a carpet, and flowers and trees whose names she couldn't recall.
She skillfully logged into "Chat" and uploaded the photos one after another.
Soon, the three roommates responded, and it was like a drop of water falling into a pan of oil, causing an uproar.
"I'm not rich (Shen Yicai): !!! Is this a park? It looks so pretty!"
Liu Xiu, a master of social maneuvering: "Wow, where is this garden? It doesn't look like a park. Let me guess, it must be a private garden, because Fei Fei went to the richest man's house for dinner today."
Zhu Yanyurun (Zhu Yuanyuan): "A rockery! A pavilion! And a big pond! Feifei, tell me honestly, is what Xiu said true?"
Jiang Yufei watched with glee as the exclamation marks and various emojis kept refreshing on the screen, her vanity greatly satisfied.
After enjoying herself, she slowly typed a reply: "Those photos were taken at my aunt's in-laws' house, which is the home of the richest man in Asia. Today, his parents treated our family to dinner."
Liu Xiu, the smooth-talking and charming womanizer: "So you've met the real Huang Xiaochuan? Tell me quickly, does he look like the photo in the magazine? Does he have a strong presence? Did he talk to you?"
Jiang Yufei's fingers flew across the keyboard as she replied, "Of course I saw him. He was very friendly and even greeted me first. He even remembered what I looked like when I was a child. His memory is amazing. No wonder he became the richest man. As for his aura, I didn't sense it, but I felt he was very approachable."
Zhu Yan Yu Run (Zhu Yuanyuan): "Did you get a picture of him? Even just a side profile would be fine! Please post it!"
"There really is one, wait, let me look for it!" Soon, Jiang Yufei reposted the photo she had sent to Shen Yicai from her camera's photo album to the group chat.
The shrewd and skillful Liu Xiu: "Isn't that the one making tea? Who are the two people sitting opposite him?"
"Look at the atmosphere in their house! I reckon the furniture and furnishings in this tea room alone could buy me a two-bedroom apartment. And the richest man even brews the tea himself! What a treat!" (Shen Yicai)
Zhu Yanyurun (Zhu Yuanyuan): "Why are you all staring at people and furniture? Look at the painting behind the richest man, I bet it's a famous painting."
Jiang Yufei didn't notice those details. She continued typing: "Sitting opposite Uncle Huang, one is my dad, and the other is Uncle Huang's second brother, whom I also need to call uncle. I don't understand what you mean by furniture and calligraphy, but I heard that this house is nearly a hundred years old."
Jiang Yufei used "Uncle Huang" several times to make her roommates think that she was very close to the Huang family.
The conversation then returned to the private garden and what they had for dinner last night. Jiang Yufei answered as many questions as possible, as she didn't know the names of some of the dishes.
Jiang Yufei's vanity was greatly satisfied mainly by the envy, amazement, and curiosity shown by her roommates.
Suddenly, the young woman, Bu Cai (Shen Yicai), asked, "By the way, Feifei, you said your internship was going well, what's going on?"
Jiang Yufei had gotten a little carried away earlier. She had inadvertently let slip what her mother, Wu Xin, had told her, but now she remembered her mother's repeated instructions not to tell anyone before things were finalized.
She responded vaguely, "I'm not entirely sure about the specifics, and whether this will even work out is still uncertain! Our school is counting on us to make money for them, so they can't let us be so casual about it."
The smooth-talking Liu Xiu immediately chimed in: "Look at what you're saying, Fei Fei! Who do you think you are! You're a relative of Huang Xiaochuan's family. These internships are a piece of cake for you. School? School is nothing but a fart in your Uncle Huang's eyes."
Zhu Yanyurun (Zhu Yuanyuan) agreed: "Exactly, arranging an internship would be a piece of cake."
Jiang Yufei was a little tired and didn't want to continue the conversation. She typed on the keyboard, "Okay! Okay! I'm not talking to you guys anymore. My aunt is taking me shopping tomorrow; she said she's going to buy me some clothes and stuff. Bye!"
Wow!
"Feifei, don't go!"
Despite her roommates' strong pleas to stay, Jiang Yufei left the group chat and shut down her laptop.
Unable to settle down, she soon opened her laptop again. This time, however, she didn't open the chat software; instead, she opened her social media profile, selected a few photos she thought were beautiful, and uploaded them, setting them to be visible only to friends. She even added the caption "Dream Garden."
Soon after, comments appeared under this post, mostly inquiries from high school and college classmates.
This time, Jiang Yufei didn't boast. Instead, she replied in a calm tone, "I'm a guest at an elder's house!"
The next morning, while having breakfast, Jiang Yufei learned about the two cartons of cigarettes. She was so surprised that she could have stuffed an egg into her mouth. Two cartons of cigarettes cost 60,000 yuan! My God!
However, most of those present were her elders, so it wasn't her turn to express her own opinions. She could only listen. But she deeply felt the unfathomable wealth of the Huang family. From the house, garden, furniture, calligraphy and paintings, to the manner in which the Huang family members spoke, everything about the family exuded nobility.
After breakfast, Jiang Rong said to her niece, "Get ready in a bit, we're going to the street later."
This was something we agreed on yesterday. Jiang Rong was fulfilling her promise. She mainly wanted to buy some clothes and bags for her niece. In Jiang Rong's opinion, girls should always dress up nicely and not be careless or sloppy.
Jiang Yufei was overjoyed: "Thank you, Auntie!"
Wu Xin laughed from the side, "Her aunt, don't spoil her too much. Just buy her a couple of things."
"How can that be?" Jiang Rong said with an air of absolute authority, her words carrying the confidence she now.
Her confidence comes from her man and her brother-in-law, and even more so from her current wealth.
"Feifei is already a young woman, and she'll be doing an internship after school starts. Her clothes and appearance can't be the same as before. As the saying goes, 'Even Buddha needs gold plating, and people need clothes to dress well.' You can't be careless!"
Jiang Rong then asked her parents, brother, and sister-in-law, "Mom and Dad, brother and sister-in-law, why don't you come along too? I'll buy you some clothes."
The elderly mother, Ji Lan, waved her hand, saying, "Your father and I have so many clothes we can't even wear them all. You two go ahead. It's so hot outside; we'll just stay home and rest."
Jiang Shan, being a grown man, naturally disliked shopping the most, and his refusal was even more straightforward: "I'm not going!"
Finally, Jiang Rong left with her sister-in-law Wu Xin and niece Jiang Yufei. Jiang Rong drove her XT5 directly to the International Financial Center in Pudong.
