Chapter 19 The Power of a Pig
Chapter 19 The Power of a Pig
The air in the dormitory became somewhat stagnant because of Su Yunxi's silence.
Chen Jiajia, the roommate with the ponytail, held her phone up awkwardly, hanging it in mid-air, thinking that her suggestion had been ignored.
"Um... Xixi, if you don't want to go, that's fine. We can find somewhere else to play."
Before she could finish speaking, Su Yunxi's muffled voice came from under the covers.
"Go on Monday."
"Huh?" Chen Jiajia was stunned for a moment, not quite understanding.
The blanket was suddenly thrown off, and Su Yunxi sat up. Her long, black hair was a little messy, but her bright eyes shone with an unmistakable light.
She looked at herself, then touched her face, as if she had thought of something, and immediately changed her mind: "No, Monday won't do, Tuesday! Tuesday it's on me!"
"Wow! Long live Xixi!"
"I knew Xixi was the best!"
The atmosphere in the dormitory instantly went from freezing to boiling, and several girls immediately started chattering excitedly.
"Great! Finally, we can go and see that 'Little Carp King'!"
"I'd love to try the boss's cooking; just look at how Deng Shen is eating, it's making my mouth water!"
Listening to her roommates' excited discussion, Su Yunxi felt a strange, secret joy, as if she were possessing a precious treasure.
They had no idea that the boss they praised to the skies was a senior they knew.
This secret was known only to her.
"Our Xixi is so pretty, when she stands there, won't the boss come over and chat her up like crazy?" Chen Jiajia joked, putting her arm around Su Yunxi's shoulder.
"That's right, our Xixi is the prettiest!"
Su Yunxi felt a little embarrassed by their compliments, but she said, "No way, my roommates are all my best friends, and they're the prettiest."
In a harmonious atmosphere, a cute girl with shoulder-length short hair is frowning and staring intently at the video on her phone screen.
Her name is Lin Xiaoran, and she has an exceptionally good memory.
"Hey, don't you guys think this boss looks familiar?" Lin Xiaoran suddenly said.
"He looks familiar. Don't all handsome guys look pretty much the same?" one of my roommates said casually.
"No!" Lin Xiaoran suddenly slapped her thigh. "I remember now, isn't this Senior Song You?!"
"Song You?" Chen Jiajia looked blank.
"It's that senior from our junior year who did the barbecue for us at a club gathering!" Lin Xiaoran said, getting more and more excited. "His grilling skills were almost as good as a restaurant chef's; he completely won us over!"
"I still wanted to use his WeChat, but my senior was pulled away by his girlfriend."
The moment these words were spoken, the entire dormitory fell silent.
The other two roommates also came over and stared intently at the figure in the video.
Now that you mention it, it does seem to be true!
"My goodness, it really is Senior Song You! I heard he went to intern at a big company, how come he went back to the countryside to open a farmhouse inn?"
Su Yunxi's possessive thoughts shattered into pieces in an instant.
She stared blankly at Lin Xiaoran, inwardly cursing this fake friend eight hundred times over.
You think you know so much? You're just showing off.
"Since he's a senior, we definitely have to go!" Chen Jiajia rubbed her hands excitedly. "Ranran, are you familiar with him? Maybe you can ask him to give us a discount!"
"Yeah, yeah, maybe we can even get it for free!"
Before Su Yunxi could speak, Lin Xiaoran interrupted them with a serious expression.
"What do you know! This is a big occasion for us to reunite with our senior, we have to be more formal!" She looked Su Yunxi up and down. "Xixi, your pajamas won't do. On Tuesday, you have to wear that new white dress, put on some light makeup, and stun everyone. Let our senior know that we're no longer those dowdy junior girls we used to be!"
Su Yunxi: "..."
This guy even started giving orders; she felt herself hardening, her fists getting a little hard.
Just then, her phone vibrated; it was a new message.
The sender was her father's assistant, Sister Li.
[Mr. Su, Song You has clearly rejected us. I feel his attitude is very firm. Should we continue to contact him?]
Su Yunxi glanced at the message, then at the figure on her phone screen who was intently killing a fish.
Her fingers flew across the screen.
"No need, Sister Li, let him be."
After sending the message, she looked up and a gentle, kind smile appeared on her face.
"Okay, let's go visit Senior Song You together on Tuesday."
……
The next morning.
Song You stretched and got out of bed.
His physical fitness allowed him to sleep soundly through the night, leaving him with an unusually high level of energy.
He walked into the courtyard, stretched his limbs, felt the warm yet powerful natural force within his body, and threw a set of unorthodox punches into the air, the wind from his punches whistling.
"Try your strength."
He walked to the courtyard wall, where several bags of cement that his father hadn't finished using were piled up, each bag weighing 100 jin (50 kg).
He bent down, grabbed both ends of a bag of cement with both hands, focused his energy, and exerted force.
"rise!"
He easily lifted 100 pounds of cement above his head without breaking a sweat.
He then tried to lift it with one hand, and although it was a bit difficult, he managed to lift it successfully.
"Try this one."
He walked to the other side, where there was a large stone block he used to prop up the table legs, which he estimated to weigh two or three hundred pounds.
He took a deep breath, wrapped his arms around the stone pillar, exerted his core strength, and with a low shout, actually lifted the stone pillar off the ground.
"Huff huff"
After putting down the stone block, Song You took a couple of breaths, but his face was full of excitement.
"If I had gone all out yesterday, I might have been able to turn that 300-pound wild boar upside down."
He silently assigned a level to his current strength.
"Hmm, let's call it, for now, the power of a pig!"
The mother wild boar on the back hill was frightened and, with her piglets, shouldn't dare to come out and cause trouble again anytime soon.
Perfect timing, I'll take this opportunity to deal with some issues in the orchard.
He went into the kitchen, cooked a pot of millet porridge, ate some pickled vegetables for a simple breakfast, then picked up his tools and headed towards the back of the mountain.
After walking along that familiar path, he soon arrived at the orchard on which he had placed high hopes.
In the morning light, several peach and plum trees looked listless, their leaves covered with unsightly brown spots, and some leaves were curled up abnormally, as if they had been scorched by something.
"Leaf spot, leaf curl, and a few aphids."
Song You squatted under the most severely diseased peach tree, carefully observing the symptoms on the leaves, his mind filled with the knowledge he had been cramming for the past few days.
He stood up, walked to the tree trunk, and reached out his hand, gently placing it on the rough bark.
"Come, let me see how sick you are."
He closed his eyes and slowly infused a wisp of pure natural energy into the peach tree.
