Chapter 45 The Black Vatican
Chapter 45 The Black Vatican
"Hanbing, what do you need us for?" Zhang asked. He and Li Xing had both come. Because of their poor grades, they had both chosen to stay in Zhoucheng. Zhang became a hunter mage, while Li joined the army.
They were somewhat puzzled by Han Bing's summons today. They had heard that Han Bing had gone to a university in Shanghai, and with the start of the semester just around the corner, it was rather strange that he had come back from Shanghai.
The key was his attire. Han Bing was wearing a large black robe, as black as ink, with a wide cape that obscured his face. He was looking into the distance, his back to the two people, with his hands under the black robe.
A gust of wind blew by, lifting the black robe slightly to reveal a pattern. Zhang Wen didn't see it, but Li Xing did. He was shocked, somewhat incredulous and unable to believe it.
"Put them on, and I will lead you onto the true path of magic." Han Bing tossed out two black robes, which floated down into the air and slowly landed in the hands of the two men. His voice was cold, even colder than when he was speaking to Su Ming.
Zhang Wen thought this was because he cultivated the ice element. He picked up the black robe and saw a pattern on the inside. Zhang Wen felt that it looked familiar, but he couldn't remember where he had seen it before.
Li Xing remained silent for a while, then put on a black robe and a hat, concealing himself within it. The robe had a very unpleasant smell, and he didn't know what it was made of.
"The Black Vatican, I never thought I'd join it one day!" Li Xing exclaimed, stepping behind Han Bing and turning to face Zhang Wen. Han Bing also turned around at this moment, backlit, making it impossible to see his face or his expression.
"Black Vatican?" Zhang Wen exclaimed in surprise. "Yes, that's the symbol of the Black Vatican. I saw it in my textbooks when I was in school. The Black Vatican is a global anti-humanity organization."
The infamous Bo City demon invasion case, which terrified the Chinese people, was reportedly orchestrated by the Black Vatican.
Zhang Wen was a little confused. It wasn't that he was stupid, but he rarely thought things through. Why did Han Bing give him this thing? Why did he have this thing in the first place?
It emitted a strange smell that was hard for ordinary people to bear, just like the book described, a strange smell.
This isn't a fake, it's genuine!
Zhang Wen forced a smile, looking at the two people dressed in black robes, "Han Bing...you...I..."
Zhang wanted to question them, but he didn't know where to begin.
Han Bing turned and spoke, "Zhang Wen, put it on. I came here because I trust you and Li Xing. It can help you embark on the true path of magic, freeing you from the constraints of so-called resources."
"This is?"
"Proof of my Holy Church!"
Han Bing's words made Zhang Wen completely give up. He really joined the Black Vatican, but why?
Han Bing was such a virtuous and kind person back then, otherwise Zhang Wen wouldn't have followed him. Although his actions towards Su Ming later lacked decorum, he was still a normal person.
And the Black Vatican?
They have been constantly indoctrinated with the idea that the people in this organization are worse than pigs and dogs, that they are beasts. In fact, after the Bo City disaster, it was confirmed that they were beasts, which is a widely accepted fact.
Zhang Wen couldn't accept it and loudly questioned Han Bing, "Why! Why did you join the Black Church! With your talent, you could have had a much brighter future. You were admitted to the best university, why did you choose to degenerate like this?!"
Zhang Wen is often petty and likes to bully others, but when it comes to truly important matters of right and wrong, he can distinguish right from wrong. At the very least, joining the Black Vatican is intolerable.
He threw the black robe in his hand on the ground and stepped on it.
Li Xing sighed slightly and shook his head. It seemed he would have to part ways with this old friend today.
Han Bing listened silently, then said helplessly, "Fine, you are not destined to be with me. Zhang Wen, you have followed me for a long time, so for this reason I will let you die without pain."
Han Bing waved his hand, indicating that he didn't need to do anything, and turned to leave.
"Han Bing, you stop right there! Joining the Black Vatican will lead to no good end. You'll ruin your family!!!" Zhang Wen was about to rush out, but a figure blocked his way. It was a monkey-faced human with a deformed and distorted face. Its skin was like a black, tight-fitting leather suit, making it extremely ugly.
The symbol of the Black Vatican: the Black Beast.
Zhang Wen wanted to resist, but he was struck by the black beast demon just as he was about to release the magic. The world spun around him, and he even saw his own body.
"Su Ming, I will come to find you." Han Bing murmured from beneath the black robe, and then left.
On the high-rise building next door, Jiuyou Hou withdrew her gaze. "The Black Vatican, quite an interesting organization."
After Jiuyou smiled, she flew nonchalantly towards the old residential area.
……
As night fell, the undead attacked the outer walls of the ancient capital as usual. Su Ming arrived at the agreed __cpLocation, and after everyone had gathered, they went to the buffer zone, where a considerable number of people had already gathered.
The light illuminated the entire surrounding area to prevent undead from launching sneak attacks.
On the city wall, magical light shone continuously, and within the buffer zone, a large number of undead rushed in.
The hunter and the military mage worked in perfect harmony, each guarding a specific area to prevent any undead from escaping.
"Destroy them!!!"
The hunter mages roared and began their war against the undead.
Their team wanted to kill three corpse generals. They were positioned relatively far forward, where there weren't many corpse generals, and even fewer could break through. They needed to cover a wider area to complete their mission.
These people are indeed elite and veteran hunters. Those individual slave-level undead are not even a match for them and will be dismembered in a few moves.
Even a group of undead can be wiped out by a few consecutive combination spells.
Vice-captain Jiang Qing is a mid-level mage in both light and water magic, while captain Deng Wenjie is a mid-level mage in both lightning and ice magic, and his lightning magic has even reached the second level, making him very strong.
Even a regular corpse would be knocked down after taking a few spells from him.
The two of them didn't take the initiative to attack, only occasionally casting small spells like Radiant Ice Vines to alleviate their teammates' situation. Those slave-level demons weren't worth their personal attention; they could leave them to others.
Su Ming glanced at them and it seemed that they didn't need his help. Apart from the two captains, the other members were all very strong in combat. Some of them even knew two spells, so they seemed to be intermediate-level mages, but they couldn't cast intermediate-level spells yet.
He wasn't needed here, so he moved aside and began to attack the other undead.
He was already handling the servant-level undead with ease, but he still called Xiao Qing out just in case, since no one knew if a corpse general might suddenly appear.
Roar! ...
Ugh!!! Ugh!!!
The roars instantly triggered a chain reaction. The undead servants knew that a powerful figure among their undead had arrived, and they charged forward recklessly as if they had been injected with adrenaline, putting great pressure on the mages.
"Finally here." Deng Wenjie casually used a lightning seal to save a mage in danger; the undead couldn't withstand his lightning seal at all.
Deng Wenjie's lightning seal was not pure purple; it had a bluish-gray hue in it, and its power was greater than that of the others.
"Lingling... Spirit Seed!!" The rescued mage's eyes widened instantly. He was also a lightning mage, but his lightning was nothing compared to Deng Wenjie's.
Deng Wenjie's lightning seal was more than twice as powerful as his.
This is the Lightning Seed of Spirits. The rescued mage's eyes were filled with envy. Spirit Seeds are born of nature and only exist in places with abundant elemental power. Obtaining one is extremely difficult, and the price of Spirit Seeds on the market is outrageously high, with the Lightning type being the most expensive.
Spirit seeds can enhance the power of a mage's magic. For example, Deng Wenjie's lightning magic is more than twice as powerful as ordinary lightning magic because of the spirit seed.
A lightning-type spirit seed is often sold for 20 to 30 million, but even at that price, it is still difficult to find a market for it because lightning-type spirit seeds are extremely rare.
Deng Wenjie felt a sense of pride. He had almost lost his life for this lightning-type spirit seed, but now it all seemed worthwhile.
Deng Wenjie adjusted his stance and shouted to his team, "The Corpse General has appeared! Cooperate with me and take down the Corpse General's Undead Crystal!!!"
Deng Wenjie's words encouraged those present. Those who had been retreating a distance stopped. The corpse generals had already been taken care of. Dealing with some slave-level demons was a piece of cake for them.
On the other side, Su Ming glanced at the group of people with high morale, then turned back to continue killing the undead.
Each undead lasts an average of three to five seconds before being dismembered by Su Ming. Su Ming doesn't need to pick up the undead crystals himself; sometimes Xiao Qing blows them up, and sometimes Su Ming uses his mind to collect them. Then he throws them all into his spatial ring.
Su Ming was fast at killing undead, but he didn't expect that someone was even faster than him.
