Chapter 104 Party
Chapter 104 Party
July 6, Los Angeles.
The day after filming wrapped on "Inception," Fu Yibai did not immediately begin post-production work, but instead slept until he naturally woke up.
Sunlight streamed in through the hotel's floor-to-ceiling windows. He lay on the bed for a few minutes, then got up and took a shower.
He had just finished showering when his phone rang.
When the call was answered, Leonardo's voice came through the receiver.
"Fu, I've arranged a party tonight, do you have time?"
I'll send someone to pick you up.
Fu Yibai didn't expect Leonardo to be in such a hurry, but he really wanted to try Hollywood specialties.
"I have time, but there's no need to send someone to pick me up."
Tell me the location, I'll go there myself.
"Okay, I'll wait for you."
Leonardo then told Fu Yibai the time and place of the party that evening.
In the afternoon, Fu Yibai went to the editing studio of the franchise film company.
I spent two hours in the editing studio going through the footage and finalizing the general editing plan.
At 7:30 p.m., Fu Yibai changed into a dark gray casual suit and drove to the address sent by Leonardo DiCaprio.
The villa is hidden deep in Beverly Hills, and its entrance is filled with luxury cars.
As soon as Fu Yibai got out of the car, he saw Leonardo standing at the door, talking to a blonde woman.
Upon seeing Fu Yibai, he immediately came up to her and gave her a big hug.
"Fu! You're finally here!"
Leonardo put his arm around his shoulder and led him inside.
"I've invited a lot of friends tonight, all from the industry. Get to know them better."
The villa was dimly lit, with soothing music playing, and small groups of people were scattered around the living room and bar.
Leonardo led him through the crowd, and people kept greeting him along the way.
"Hey, Leo!"
"Leo, who is this?"
"Fu, a director from China, is a winner of the Berlin Golden Bear Award."
Leonardo introduced them one by one, and Fu Yibai nodded in greeting, exchanging a few pleasantries occasionally.
When they reached the bar, Leonardo ordered him a whiskey, then put his arm around his shoulder and said with a smile.
"See that over there?"
Scarlett Janssen, who starred in "Lost in Translation".
She has a great figure.
I invited them several times before, but they all declined.
I was surprised to hear you were going to participate.
Fu Yibai followed his gaze.
At the other end of the bar, a woman in a black dress was talking to the person next to her while holding a wine glass.
Her golden curly hair cascaded over her shoulders, her features were delicate, and her eyes held a maturity beyond her years.
Scarlett Janssen, at the age of twenty, had already won the BAFTA Award for Best Actress for her role in "Lost in Translation".
"And that one over there."
Anne Hathaway, the one from The Princess Diaries.
They are all rare beauties.
Are you interested?
Anne Hathaway sat on the sofa, her long brown hair flowing, wearing a white shirt and jeans that perfectly accentuated her sexy and hot figure.
Fu Yibai's gaze lingered on the two of them for a moment before he looked away, picked up his wine glass, and took a sip.
"They're all beauties, Leo, you've put on a great party."
Leonardo chuckled and lowered his voice.
"Tell me which one you like, and I'll help you make the connection."
I can't speak for other things, but in this industry, my reputation, Leo's, still carries some weight.
Fu Yibai didn't reply, he just smiled.
The two chatted for a few more minutes before Leonardo was pulled away. Before leaving, he gave Leonardo a wink.
Music flowed in my ears, and the lighting was just right, creating a soft, ambiguous ambiance.
Anne Hathaway was still sitting on the sofa, talking to the person next to her, occasionally smiling, her smile elegant and charming.
Scarlett Janssen stood at the other end of the bar, holding a glass of wine, her gaze seemingly fixed on nowhere.
Fu Yibai put down his wine glass, got up and walked towards the sofa.
"Miss Anne Hathaway?"
Anne Hathaway looked up and was slightly taken aback when she saw the young and handsome Asian man in front of her.
"I am Fu Yibai, from China."
Anne's eyes lit up, and she reached out to take his hand.
"I know you, the director of No Country for Old Men."
I saw that film at the film festival; it was fantastic.
"Thanks."
Fu Yibai sat down next to her, the distance between them just right, neither too distant nor too close.
"To be honest, I didn't expect to see you here."
Annie turned her head to look at him, her eyes filled with curiosity.
Why?
"You don't seem like the type to come to this kind of party."
Anne smiled, her eyebrows curving upwards, a sly glint in her eyes.
"Leo is my friend. He invited me, so I came."
"friend?"
"friend."
Anne nodded, then looked at him with a smile in her eyes.
"And you? What brings you here? Leo's friend?"
"Um."
Fu Yibai picked up his wine glass and took a sip.
"I just finished filming Inception, and Leo said he wanted to celebrate with me, so I came."
Annie blinked.
"Is that the big production with a budget of 150 million US dollars?"
It's a pity the female lead didn't audition in Hollywood, otherwise I would definitely have given it a try.
Anne looked at him with undisguised interest in her eyes.
Fu Yibai met her gaze, a slight smile curving his lips.
That's really a pity.
If I had known that such a beautiful lady wanted to act in this film, I would definitely have auditioned in Hollywood.
Although we missed out this time, there may be other opportunities in the future.
Is this an invitation?
Annie tilted her head, a hint of playfulness in her smile.
"I guess so."
Fu Yibai picked up his wine glass and gently clinked it against hers.
The two hit it off immediately, talking about movies, acting, and their respective lives.
Anne would occasionally approach him unintentionally, her faint perfume wafting over.
Just as they were getting into the conversation, a voice rang out from the side.
